But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, 5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
Ephesians 2:4-5 NLT
This passage is a humble reminder that God’s grace and mercy for us is the reason we have salvation. This is a gift given to us! Not because we we have earned it, worked hard enough for it, or deserve it. Only through God’s perfect love could we be considered alive with Christ. Throughout the Bible God’s heart always reflects redemption, restoration, and life. He sees the dead and lifeless things and breathes new life back. His heart is to see every person pulled from their death and made alive again in him. Because of God’s great love for us he sent his son to be born. With Jesus’ first breath on this earth, it was made possible for all of us to share in the plan of eternal life. Rejoice this Advent season, God’s grace has covered you! What are some ways you can reflect God’s heart when it comes to extending grace? God has been so good to us, how can we begin to extend God’s grace to the world around us?
